blank launcher too

information

about:blank launcher (AKA rainyware launcher) is designed to get around school monitoring software like securly classroom by opening any URL in an iframe on about:blank

now includes bookmarks to go to various sites that work with rainyware launcher

most websites really don’t like getting embedded so they have issues or downright don’t work at all

technical description

the monitoring software on our school chromebooks is “securly classroom” bypasses have come and gone over time, one of them being the crash+hang method. but this new method is unpatchable because it uses an iframe inside the browser’s default blank page which results in a “waiting for device” on the teacher software.

FAQ

will this let me access blocked sites?

depends, if your teacher blocks it using the securly classroom extension, then yes but if it’s blocked on the school wifi itself or is in the global global block list, then it can’t get around that.

mr kromer blocked spis and this gets around that

will my school be able to see my history?

yes and no, your browser history will show nothing, not even the launcher itself (except the web version) which is good but data being sent to the network CAN be tracked, and from there, history can be tracked.

known issues

logging in doesn’t work on most sites

the server that hosts all our downloads says it’s because of cookies, but the remote dashboard for our minecraft server works fine so it’s really mixed

a lot of sites just downright refuse connection

a lot of sites really don’t like being embedded inside of an iframe and so you get big bailed by cross origin security policy but it works great on the sites that don’t

sometimes clicking buttons in sites closes the tab

this is a setting on securly classroom, i don’t know what it’s supposed to do but it can close rainyware launcher tabs when you interact with it.

only a few of our teachers use it so it works in most
